Jim has received the endorsement of the Henry County Fraternal Order of Police.
Dear Friends and Supporters:
Just a reminder that advanced voting starts in just three weeks, July 7th thru 11th. You may vote at one of these polling places that week:
- McDonough: Main Office, 66 Veterans Drive
- Stockbridge: Cochran Memorial Library, 4602 N. Henry Blvd.
- Locust Grove: Locust Grove Library, 115 L. G. Griffin Road
- Hampton: Berea Christian Church, 37 Woolsey Road
- Fairview Area: Fairview Library, 28 Austin Road, Stockbridge
If you can't get to the polls during advanced voting, don't forget to vote at your regular polling place in the all important Republican Primary Election on July 15th.
I have been on leave of absence from the Police Department since the end of April, and Kitty and I have been working very hard everyday putting out signs and meeting the voters. We have attended several forums and Meet and Greets and I've spoken at numerous events where I have presented my platform and my plans for the Henry County Sheriff's Department.
At each of these events, my main opponent did not present a single new plan for the Sheriff's Office. Instead, he attacked my position on the issues, and never presented any new ideas of his own.
Recently, I presented my plan for bringing a new Juvenile Detention Center to Henry County, including my plans of how to accomplish that goal. In response, this opponent said that he had no problem with continuing to transport juveniles to and from the Griffin Regional Youth Detention Center. With fuel at four dollars a gallon and the liability involved in transporting juveniles, I believe it is in the best interest of the citizens of Henry County to have our own Detention Center that will be funded by the state.
I also believe that the Henry County Police Department needs a Deputy assigned to the Police Department's C.A.G.E. (Criminal Apprehension and Gang Enforcement) Unit. My opponent mentioned that he had been the chairman of the County Gangs Task Force and agrees that there should be a Deputy on the CAGE Unit. If this is so, then, why, as a Major with the authority to do so, has he not added a single Deputy to the CAGE Unit when requested to by the Police Chief? If this is his idea of cooperation between law enforcement agencies, then Henry County citizens would be better off without it.
These are just two important reasons why I think positive change will not take place if he is elected. Have you ever wondered why large corporations seek outsiders for leadership positions rather than promoting from within? They want a new perspective, and insiders are just too close to the situation to see the problems. We need a fresh perspective in the Henry County Sheriff's Office. If this opponent is elected, it will be put on the blinders, and full speed ahead.
We need your help and your vote to bring a New Perspective to the Henry County Sheriff's Office. If you want to discuss my plans for the Sheriff's Office, request a sign in your yard, or if you can help us financially or in any other way, please contact me at: jimcox04@yahoo.com, or 678-283-4657. Let's Make Henry County a Safer Place to Live!
Thank You,
Jim
